Activities for Families
Art and Nature Events
Our education department created a family adventure combining nature exploration with outdoor painting activities in collaborated with Art To Grow On, Inc. The activity begins with an interactive trail hike led by our educators incorporating fun elements like nature games to explore the trail, scavenger hunts, and "sound games" to listen like a coyote to locate special animals, plants and scents. The walk is followed by an outdoor art studio where children were invited to create their own masterpieces.

"Best Birthday Party Ever" at George F Canyon Nature Center
If you have a little nature-lover at home consider celebrating a one-of-a-kind outdoor and eco-friendly birthday at the Nature Center! GFC birthday parties are fun-filled, educational, and activity rich adventures.

Your child and friends will enjoy this fun-filled two-hour party at the George F Canyon Nature Center. Parties are held on weekdays, anytime from dawn to dusk. Cost per child is $15 and includes all activities and party bags. The cost includes a year membership for the family hosting the party.

Scout Projects
Several options are offered to meet badge requirements of Cub Scouts, Brownies and Junior Girl Scouts. Relevant Boy Scout programs:
- Wolf Cub Outdoor Adventure (2nd grade)
- Bear Cub Wilderness Wanderer (3rd grade)
- Webelos Forester Badge (4th -6th grade)
- Webelos Geologist Badge (4th -6th grade)
- Webelos Naturalist Badge (4th -6th grade)
- Eagle Scout
Unfortunately, due to limitations of staff time, particularly on weekends, we cannot accommodate all of the people who contact us with a project. We have therefore set up the following procedure to respond to requests. Please review the timeline before submitting this form.
A project will not be considered without at least 120 days notice before the project deadline. The Conservancy will make every effort to respond within two days of submitting the interest form. If the Conservancy can accommodate your proposal, the Scout will need to organize a meeting with the staff member who will assist with the project. This meeting will establish the project type, timeline, and completion date.
